Accepting Texas Medicaid and CHIP
At BrightKids Pediatrics, your child’s coverage should never be the reason care gets delayed. We accept Texas Medicaid (STAR) and CHIP, and we welcome new patients on both—same doctor, same appointment times, same quality of care.
Families across McKinney, Frisco, Prosper, and Collin County see Dr. Afsheen Abid, M.D., a board-certified pediatrician. The same physician who sees your child at their first visit sees them at every visit after, from newborn checkups through age 21.
“Every child in our practice gets the same care, the same time, and the same doctor—regardless of how their visit is paid for.”

Texas Medicaid covers preventive care for children through the Texas Health Steps program, with no copay for covered services. That includes well-child checkups on the recommended schedule, immunizations, vision and hearing screening, developmental and behavioral screening, lab work, and dental referrals.
CHIP covers checkups, immunizations, sick visits, and prescriptions at low or no cost depending on your family’s plan. Sick visits, school and sports physicals, and ADHD evaluations are covered under both programs when medically necessary.
